This has been said before but it really does hit close to home. Maybe not from my own experiences, but for the people around me. This is why I try my best to be there for them. Anyway, the pounding of my heart has just been amplified, thanks for that, and I came so close to crying, so thanks for that as well. I really love the execution of this story and message, the recurring “Smile, smile smile”, and “Hey, Y, I need your help.” Sometimes it really does feel like you can give more and more and no one bats an eye, but you are seen. You are recognized. You are loved. You will get through this, and this message is directed at everyone reading this. You are not alone. Be strong. There will be a day when you can say you’re okay and mean it.
The flash of thoughts, having a completely normal time and then suddenly my mind went downhill, and the switch between angry at myself and angry at everyone else.
The, "Why am I crying?" hit me like a ton of bricks.
Usually I'm against fast-paced stories or no environment text, but it fits perfectly with this type of thing. It's hard to focus on anything else but those intrusive thoughts, so you end up losing time and awareness around you. That was a great choice.
The ending too though... I think it's important to know what to look for, and understand it's not just one thing in depression. It's a constant attack, and most people feel like if they let it slip to the outside then everything will get worst. I think this game is a good insight to that.
The only thing I could suggest at this point, is there was a flash of text at the top in the beginning. I tried several times to read it, but only could catch a few words each time. I get why you did it, but I'm so curious what it says!
This was a wonderful submission, and It's given me things to think about.
interesting game :) Relatable, unfortunately. I think it's a good insight into how people feel, and also can encourage people to reach out to each other.
